All great works have humble beginnings! So too had Don Bosco-Baithalangso. The seed of Don Bosco’s System of Education in Karbi Anglong was planted by a well-known visionary and educationist, the French missionary, Rev Fr. Michael Balavoine, sdb, of happy memory, in the latter half of 1950’s. Being a visionary he knew that only education would usher in development and progress to a region. So he established a multi-lingual school at Sojong in 1963. That was the first Don Bosco School in Karbi Anglong.
The Pioneering enthusiasm of Fr. Michael Balavoine, sdb was dedicatedly carried forward by other Salesians, and Don Bosco Schools ware established in Umswai, Amkachi, Jirikyndeng and Kheroni
Don Bosco School, Baithalangso is of recent origin. It was started by Fr. Joseph Teron in 2006 in a tin-roofed shed with bamboo walls. In 2011 the work for a concrete building was begun, and now we have the majestic three-storeyed building with some five hundred and fifty student.
In 2017 the first batch of 15 students completed the HSLC Examinations of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam with great success. Eleven of them passed in First Division and four in Second Division, Securing a total of thirteen Letter Marks.
The humble steps for education taken in 1963 have marched ahead with giant strides during the past fifty years and more.
