Johnny Bosco, was born at Becchi, in Piedmont, Italy on August 16, 1815. He lost his father at the age of two, and being from a poor peasant family, little Johnny Bosco had to undergo great hardships to complete his high school studies and seminary training to become a catholic priest, after which we was popularly called Don (Father) Bosco.

From the very beginning he was imbued with great love for young people, especially those, who because of poverty or lack of a helping hand, were pushed to the margins of society. His intelligence, common sense and intense spirituality led him to create an educational system that helped in the overall development body, heart, mind and spirit an individual.

Don Bosco is a world-famous educator of youth. His system of education known as the ‘Preventive System’ is based on three fundamental pillars: “Reason”, Religion” and “Loving Kindness”.

It recognises the vast potentialities latent in one’s faculties of mind, heart and body, and it tries to bring out and develop them in a balanced manner. It also takes into account the social and economic dimensions of life. It places before the staff, students and parents the high ideals of humanism and service towards which they are continually invited to strive.
